Legal stuff to using companies trademarks?

I want to use other companies names logos and trademarks on a product. I am going to obtain their permission first but was wondering what sort of contract needs to be drawn up. If it can be as simple as a letter stating the permission is granted or if it needs to be more in depth to cover myself? If so what sort of contract.
