Arabs and WWII?

Did Arabs help out in WWII at all on the axis or the ally side? Cause On the WWII territory map, the Nazi's like skipped over the middle east and went to Africa..Well I Do know after WWII some Arabic countries like Kuwait and Syria were taken over by some European Countries like the U.K. and France. I need a logical smart answer please?
