Is Christian/Catholic communion the same as cannibalism?

I love my Catholic faith but am troubled sometimes by images of me committing cannibalism. I'm not kidding and let me explain. When taking communion we Catholics really do believe we are eating the body of Christ and drinking his blood when we drink the wine. Don't we? I mean we really do believe the bread and wine becomes his blood and body. This bothers me sometimes cause I picture Christ laying dead on a table and me taking a knife and fork and pulling off a piece of his flesh to eat...and this imagery bothers me. I have similar thoughts regarding wine/blood. Can some of you help me to look at this in a way which will make me feel better or to see or understand this better or differently?
