Navel piercing question?

i just got my navel pierced thursday and my boyfriend hugged me and squeezed it. since that day iys been iritated and uncomftrable, i've been cleaning it and taking good care if it but the skin around the exits is actually sticking to the ring and making the skin around it red and a little painfull when i move it away from there. what can i do to prevent the skin from sticking to it and to make it less irritated?
